Let me preface by saying this: I cannot speak on the rest of the line of speakers WGS has to offer, except maybe the ET65. I bought a set of those for my original 68 Pro Reverb, and hated them. No matter what I did with tone controls, those speakers were unforgivingly bright, harsh and brash to my ears. Which brings me to my review:

I should have stuck to the Reaper HPs, which sound fantastic with every amp I own. I bought a pair of them about 10 years ago that have been in an Egnater 2x12 ever since. That cab lived under a bus for about 3 years, has seen thousand of stages, and I’ve NEVER had any issues with them. Those original Reapers have been consistent and deliver night after night. I love em!

Recently, I bought a single 4 ohm Reaper HP to replace a Celestion Gold in a Z 1x12 clone cab. I was finally able to use it at gigs last week, and it was sonically satisfying to hear a speaker my ears know and love. Even out of the box, that speaker sounded fantastic!

I dig loud/ clean, 6L6-type amps with plenty of volume. My main amps are a 63 Showman, Headstrong Lil King S, a Silverface Bassman, and a Pro Reverb. I have a plethora of pedals and pedal boards I use that include various shades of overdrive, flange, phase, delay, reverbs, etc. It’s all utilitarian for my gigs that range from rock, blues, country, funk, R&B, and some jazz.

Long live the Reaper HP!!! 🤘🤘🤘

How to wake up an amplifier

This is my 3rd Reaper (1-Reaper 30 and 2-Reaper HP). Every combo amp I have installed them in sounds twice a big as it did stock. It makes the bass frequencies tighter and louder, the mids are clearer, and the highs are smooth.
If you have a 12" combo that sounds small, try the Reaper!

A great amp deserves a great speaker

I just bought a RedPlate Tweedy Verb+. The OEM speaker was an Eminence Legend, which is a speaker that does absolutely nothing for any amp or cabinet I have ever tried one (or two) in.
I installed the WGS Reaper HP, and the amp sounded like it had doubled in size (a Tweedy Verb+ is a small amp to begin with) and the tone was so much sweeter. It has bigger lows, punchier mids, and the high end is more detailed without being harsh.
This is my 6th WGS speaker, totaling 5 different models now, and I am never disappointed. In fact, I'm stoked! I've recommended WGS to several people, and those that have tried them have thanked me profusely about pointing them in that direction.
Keep up the great work WGS!!!
