Lower efficiency, balanced speaker for 1x12 5E3 Tweed combo

I searched the site, but couldn't find what I was looking for.  I'm looking for a lower efficiency, balanced speaker for my tweed 5E3. Price is an issue, so alnico probably won't work.  It came with a Hellatone 60 (which I think is a Cele V30 in disguise).  It's loud.  More importantly, it seems like midrange overkill.  The amp has a very focused midrange sound.  I am looking for something that will sound and feel a little "softer" and provide a more balanced tone.  I basically want to set the amp to overdrive and ride the volume knob on the guitar for semi-cleans.  I don't need all out cleans at high volume, but I'd like to be able to get over a drummer when driven.  Stones to Neil Young, maybe?  I play mainly a Hamer with HBs and a tele with hotter-than-vintage pickups. I'm thinking G12C, G12C/S, or maybe Green Beret?

Probably sounds like the G12Q:  http://wgs4.com/12-g12q-20-watts

Or, you have described the ET65 to a "T":  http://wgs4.com/et65

And yes, the Hellatone is a "pre-broken-in" Celestion Vintage 30 ... which seems like a bit of a strange choice for that amp ...

Thank you, sir!  I watched your vid where the G12Q won the shootout and that kind of opened my eyes to it.  I think I'll pick up one of those and a G12C to try them both out.  I have an ET65 coming for my Dr. Z Mazerati (currently has an Emi Tonker, which is way too efficient for an already loud amp).  So, I can try the ET65 with the 5E3 as well.  Thanks again!

How about in my old GA-19RVTs, GA-20s, and GA-40?  It's been tough finding something that sounds decent in all of them...and it THIS solves the problem....cool.

Just wanted to follow up on this.  I took your G12Q suggestion - great call!  I ordered from the site and it was at my door in 3 days.  I've played the amp with the G12Q the last couple weekends, and it's exactly what I wanted.  Volume is tamed, tone is more balanced - Tweed goodness.  Thanks again.

Yea ... the G12Q would probably work ... IF you like the original tone of those amps with stock speakers ... but I haven't heard any of those in a few years ... so I'm going by kinda rusty memory here!

Awesome!  And thanks so much for taking the time to come back and post your results here!
