Hi there ! I need your help for choosing a speaker to put in a Tube Town Rex 1x12 closed back (poplar body and birch for the speaker face) wich is oversized (WxHxD 660 x 470 x 350 mm) because the acutal speaker (Jensen Tornado stealth 80w) is too bright / ice picky for my new amp (JMH custom Atlas 15/20w, Deluxe Clean, Soldano Crunch and Diezel VH4 for the lead) but still OK with my Diezel Einstein Head.
So I need a speaker to play Prog metal, but I play bit of all genre of music, but the main type of music is Prog Metal, with 6, 7 and 8 string.
This speaker will be used with my Diezel Einstein head too. So I need a tight low end with depth, warm and present mids, clear and smooth highs, with presence but not too much to avoid the ice picy side, and cut through the mix with ease. I also have a Diezel 1x12 cab (in fact, I turned the combo to a cab) with a Celestion K100 wih can be closed or 1/3 open back.
I tried the ET65 in an other cab (semi open) that I really liked, but maybe too loose for my taste.
Wich one can be the one ? I thought about the ET90 or the Vet30. It's possible that in the future, the K100 will be changed.
Thank's guys !

Okay ... that would make the Reaper HP my number one choice ... the ET90 you've mentioned would be a fairly close second!
Hi there !
So In the past I couldn't buy a ET90 to give him a try but I I buy a second hand Redback. It's better but not enough, the high end still too sharp... I think to go with a 2x12 homemade (pinewood and okumé back and front) with theses sizes LxHxD= 750x500x350mm. The high end and upper midrange are quite aggressive, so I need to tame these a bit. After listen to your demos Vaughn, and videos of other guys, I think to take an ET90 but with what speaker I have to pair it ? The combination of ET65/Vet30 is just awesome ! I like the airy but still smooth high end of the ET90. Is the future 2x12 big enough for the ET90? Close or 1/3 open is better ? Need some advices, I'm quite lost ;)
Thank you!

Hi there! So I couldn't buy an but ET90 buy a second hand Redback. It's better but not perfect yet. I think of going to a 212 with flex back (LxHx+D=750x500x350mm) to use with my 20w amp, wich have the high end and upper mids a bit aggressive, so I need to tame it a bit. The et65/vet30 combo is awesome! But I really like the airy ET90, but is the future cab big enough for the et90? What speaker can I use to pair the et90? Maybe the et65/vet30 is the right one in close back?
I have to say, I'm a quite lost :-)
thank you!

Hi guys !
Just another question about the future DIY 2x12 vertical cab (18mm pinewood for the sides, top and bottom, 15mm for nautique okume back and front). I also want to put it in horizontal. So, in which orientation I have to place the 1/3 back port? on the Length or on the Width?
Thank's a lot
Yann
