Hi, I have a 90s Peavey Bravo amp. It was designed by James Brown, he also designed other amps such as the 5150.
This is a 1-12 combo, about 30 watts, it's very marshally, I mainly use it in the overdrive mode but with the gain low for a cleanish OD sound that I boost with a Timmy pedal for solos.

The current Blue Marvel speaker sounds harsh and thin unless I turn the treble all the way down.

I plugged the Bravo into my Marshall 1965a cabinet which has 10" celestion greenbacks. These are dark speakers and tame the high end of my homebuilt Marshall 2204 but it's too dark for the Bravo.

So I know Greenback voiced speakers are too dark for this amp.

What about the Veteran 30? Would it work or would it be too bright and "in your face?"
Looking for a speaker that has a smooth high end but not dull, and a nice fat round bottom.

It seams like I'm a broken record on 1x12 combos, but I'd go for the ET65 or ET90. The 90 will give you just a touch more solid bottom, of course either won't even be touched by 30-watts RMS :)

The Vet30 would not be a bad choice ... but it sounds like you want a little more top=end taming than the Vet will provide.
