I recently acquired a [ solid state ] Harvard Reverb II from the 80s, its rated at 20w and I think the speaker I would like, based on every description I have read is the Veteran 10, but it is also rated at 20w. I am concerned that running the amp at full volume or transient spikes could blow the speaker.
Would appreciate thoughts on using it or something else with a higher power rating. I like the Eminence speaker that is in there now, but its showing its age. Tight but full low end, clear mids and nice top end without ice picks - it almost has a british vibe to it, but I don't know I'd go that far....but maybe.
Running ES-335 style guitar which likes to be brightened up a bit through the amp. Playing Blues / Blues Rock.
The Vet10 will handle the Harvard II perfectly fine ... and will sound sweet and vintage, but ... if you want to make that amp something that you can actually gig with, go for a G10C!
Vaughn,
Thanks for the response. Just want to clarify your statement about G10C to actually gig with. Are you saying that running the Harvard II wide open with the Veteran wouldn't be a good thing to do, or that having the G10C will will be that much better for gigging purposes? The Harvard II is a a very loud amp for 20w.
Thanks,
BHM

If you want to share the stage with a drummer, bass ... etc., the G10C will give you enough volume, headroom, and solid bass (without farting out)!
