Hi there

I use a supersonic combo - one of the older 60 watt models that uses the celestion vintage 30.

Try as I might I can't get a tone that really floors me - I just don't like it. very mid rangy and just sounds wrong

However I have bypassed the vintage 30 and played thru a 2 x 12 cabinet with gt12-75 and it sounded much better. That's why I kept the amp, it has potential, but I want to see if a different speaker would uncork it a bit

When i play the amp with the speaker cab it sounds much much better, in fact it's brilliant, but its a lot to lug around!

What's your thoughts on a new speaker to replace the vintage 30? ET 65??

In terms of style I play a les paul or a gretsch 6120n and play garage 60's / 70's sort of stuff. Not modern metal or anything thrashy...so not always with distortion either - the bassman setting on the supersonic breaks up nicely and I use that a bit too....so tone I aspire to is anywhere from early billy gibbons to pete townsend to stooges

many thanks - appreciate it its a subjective topic

Retro 30 would be my 1st choice, Reaper HP a close 2nd.

I ended going with the Blackhawk 100

Great bass and very articulate, without the V30 mid explosion

It's really brought the amp alive
