With the Retro 10, we set out to build something with all the qualities we enjoy about our Retro 30 in a 10” speaker. It’s got a tight bottom, an articulate top end, and a nice low-midrange growl. It can be thought of as a distant cousin of the Green Beret 10, but with more low end, slightly more top end, and a shift in midrange characteristics.

Sweet and loud!

This speaker transformed my little Vox Mini Superbeetle. It was fine before, but lacking in clean volume for playing with a band. The Retro 10 4-ohm allows the amp to put out 50 watts, *and* it is also more efficient than the original 8-ohm Celestion (which the amp ran at 25 watts). The result is a *way* louder amp with plenty of headroom and a more solid bass. The overall tone is nicely similar to the original speaker, keeping the Vox-y vibe.

Thanks to Trevor for suggesting this speaker for my little Vox.

64 Custom Princeton Reverb. Replaced original Jenson with Celestion G10. Replaced with vintage Fender Gold Label. Replaced with vintage Tone Tubby 40/40 Hempcone Green. Replaced with vintage JBL K110. Replaced with WGS G10C. Replaced with WGS Retro 10 and now after years of searching the tone is home. Amp on 7 - Vinetto Tele with Lollar Vintage T's on 7 = clean rhythm - simply roll volume to 10 and the Princeton/WGS gets up it's hind legs and HOWLS! Thanks to Jason Soileau (tech) and Trevor (WGS).

Review of Nate on 10" Retro 10 - 60 watts

I just bought one of these and put it in my Champ II and wow. What a great speaker for this amp! Plus at 100 decibels sensitivity it should be able to hang in there with 12" speakers. I'm excited to take this little Champ to my next gig.

Love it for my fiesty little metal beast!
Review of Love it for my fiesty little metal beast! on 10" Retro 10 - 60 watts

Threw it in my Orange Rocker 15 combo and it really helped give me everything I felt the stock speaker just wasn't for heavier music. I loooove shredding out extreme metal riffs and this really made things sound and feel heavier. Figuratively and literally, it's noticeably heavier lol I was on the verge of selling the thing amp but this prevented me from doing so. While I love using Tubescreamers and such as boosts, with this and just the general nature of that amp, this really helped it be even more of a "plug'n'play". Anything else for me, it's just personal preference.

It also really made the Natural Channel thrive excellently for being even better some of my Preamp type pedals (SNK VHD). Honestly compareble to my Ampeg VH140c Combo (Celestion model, not the later version) and tbh, I kinda like it more like this lol. Couldn't have landed where I'm at without this little piece.

Want to Thrash? Ya got it. Want to get some nasty old school DM but with some sweetness? Ya got it. Want to get some wide range of= gnarly Death Metal tones? Ya got it. Want to Doom? You got it, and this is what took me there.

I'd argue that altogether, 10"s are probably more underrated for heavier music than I think us metalheads tend to suspect. Sounds sick miked up as well.

I could gush forever, but if you know anything about the Vintage 30 family of speakers (and I've got enough lol) and you're in the 10" world, just get this and stop lookin!
