4 vs 16 Ohm 4X12 Cab selector. Which is preferred?

I have ET 65 and Vet 4X12 in X pattern.

Like many tube amps, (Fuchs Train 45) I have 4, 8 & 16 Ohm options. (Actually mine is custom shop with additional 8 Ohm feed.)

4X12 Cab has either 4 or 16 Ohm option. It's a crappy Ibanez Cab.

Given the choice, which is of greater benefit?? 4 or 16 Ohms?

Just set the cab to whatever OT tap you are using.

4-ohm would be parallel

16 would be series ...

Guess I personally would go with the 4-ohm parallel ... All my fav old Fenders run 4 or even 2-ohms ... so call it "sentimental reasoning"!

on 4X12 with 4 Ohm is signal now one 48 inch humongo speaker?

 

16 Ohms four individual 12 inch speaker?

 

or am I wrong? which I probably am.
