I have 2 8ohm Green Berets in my 4x12 cab already, just lookng for a recommendation for what you think the other 2 speakers should be. Looking for something with more low end than the very mid GBs.I play a Custom Hiwatt 50. Loud rock type stuff. Thanx!

I'm going to say probably either ET65's or Reapers

OK, I'm really surprised that this pairing isn't even mentioned here!

I just loaded my old '80's Carvin 4X12 with a pair of Retro 30's and Green Beret's in an "X" pattern...Holy Crap! It sounds amazing! Waaay better than the ET65/Retro 30 pairing that was in there before.

The ET65/Retro mix was a little dull and bassy with not too much definition.

The Retro/GB pairing is bright, articulate and razor sharp with a little hair around the edges. Just a killer combo.

BTW - I was going to try the "ET65/GB thing" in the cab, but I'm not even going to bother experimenting with that combo. I'm blown away at how good the Retro's and GB's sound together!

Cool ... and thanks a bunch (!!) for taking the time to report your findings here ... where we ALL can learn from it!

"johnnylaundry", is that one of the new HiWatts?  Saw them at NAMM and was blown away at the meticulous wiring & construction ... so I've been jonesin' to play one ever since.  Of course, the old ones are legendary, too...
